KSP 1.07 Product Marker & Mixes Policy

PURPOSE: To reduce and eliminate the errors that can cause a product mix and/or spill while loading or delivering a customer’s product. This is a tool designed to help the driver in accurate unloading. The procedure is as follows:

PROCEDURE:

  1. Drivers should use product markers that are stocked at each terminal to clearly identify the products listed below when those products are loaded in trailer compartments.
  2. Once a product is placed in a compartment, the driver should place a colored product marker on the loading head or dust cap in addition to setting the product dial on the loading head when hauling these products:
    • Yellow = Clear Diesel,
    • Red = Premium,
    • Brown = K-1,
    • Green = Dyed Diesel.
  1. If products are mixed in a customer’s tank or mixed on the truck, the employee involved must shut off the flow at once. If the product has been dropped into the tank, the driver must notify the location personnel immediately so that no product is purchased from that tank. The driver must then notify his/her Terminal Manager for further instructions.
  2. EMPLOYMENT TERMINATION DUE TO NEGLIGENCE: If an incident occurs in which a driver creates a mix of gasoline and ULSD products in a customer’s tank and leaves the location, the driver may be terminated from employment for the first offense. If a driver creates a mix of gasoline and ULSD products in a customer’s tank on a second offense, that driver may be terminated WITHOUT regard to 1.07 Penalties below. Otherwise, not following this procedure carries the following penalties, in addition to being sent home the rest of the work shift:

PENALTIES:
1st Violation: 1-day suspension and $500 deduction up to the cost of the mix from current period DSB Payout.
2nd Violation: 3-day suspension and loss of current period DSB Payout.
3rd Violation: further disciplinary action, up to and including, termination of employment.
