KSP 1.01 Brake Policy
PURPOSE: To avoid the fatality or injury of any other Reliable Tank Line driver or anyone else due to transport unit roll-away – ever. The procedure is as follows:
PROCEDURE:
- Anytime you are out of the truck, BOTH tractor and trailer brakes WILL BE APPLIED. You are to manually pull both valves to assure they have been applied BEFORE exiting the cab, UNLESS and ONLY IF loading terminal procedures specify otherwise.
- If air releases when you raise the load bar, the trailer brakes are not set and you are in violation of the brake policy, UNLESS and ONLY IF loading terminal procedures require this audible air release to occur when under the rack for loading.
- Not following this procedure carries the following penalties, in addition to being sent home for the rest of the work shift:
PENALTIES:
1st Violation: 3-day suspension and loss of current period DSB Payout.
2nd Violation: further disciplinary action, up to and including, termination of employment.
