KSP 1.04 Vapor Recovery Policy
PURPOSE: To protect the life and health of our drivers and the public, to protect the environment from the harmful effects of gasoline vapors and ensure that we are following federal and state air quality standards during product loading and unloading. The procedure is as follows:
PROCEDURE:
- Vapor recovery is a closed-system design. This means that during a Gas delivery, vapor recovery shall be used to contain the vapors inside the tanker. From the fitting on the ground and/or above ground tank to the tanker, a vapor recovery hose will be connected to both. All coupling cam locks will be in a closed position.
- Leaving the loading head valve open during a delivery will not be tolerated. This allows vapors to be released into the atmosphere. If you need to drain your compartments, let them drain with the loading head valve closed while dropping other compartments and come back and drain them once done.
- Under NO circumstances are you to open any valves or start unloading gas without the vapor recovery completely connected. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Not following this procedure carries the following penalties, in addition to being sent home the rest of the work shift:
PENALTY:
1st Violation: Termination of employment.
